Unless you know how to decipher a piece from a written description, this book is hard to figure out. I don't know the names of pieces and was hoping for pictures with prices and descriptions. This book is for experts in my opinion not newbies to the depression glass world like me.
This book has a lot of the different depression glass patterns. My wife and I have a large collection of depression glass and this book did a nice job helping us learn more about what we have as well as a fair price to pay on glass we want to pick up. We have a few different books as they all seem to have a couple patterns left out and this book did a great job and picking up some of the patterns we were still looking for information on.
I loved the book. The information was GREAT!I love to go to garage sales and look for antiques. My house is decorated with antiques. For whatever reason I've always loved antiques especially the ones that have been passed down to me from relatives. I enjoy reading books about antiques. I learn more and more each time I read a new book about antiques.I guess you could say that antiques are my passion. I pick and choose the antiques that I buy to fit in with all the antiques that I already have. Just beware that this can become an addictive habit collecting all of these things. So if you are wanting to collect antiques make sure that you choose those that will, pretty much, blend well together with the other antiques that you have.
Pretty good little book for the money, a little heavy on the Fire King stuff but generally helpful. It would be better if the pictures were with each pattern instead of in the center of the book. I like the notation areas
I don't like to review a book until I have actually had it for a period of time. I have had this book for several months and have referred to it a few times. Which makes it a good resource book. My one negative is that I feel the prices are inflated. It was published in 2009. The market is not that much different now in 2013/2014 and yet the prices are a bit outrageous.If you are looking for good descriptions, this is a good book. If you are purchasing this book, to look for rough estimates - look elsewhere.
While somewhat dismayed to discover that the perceived value of depression glass has declined, I am still happy to have an updated view. This handy little volume is still the best to carry around in your back pocket when poking around in dusty corners in search for that missing piece in mint condition from a seller that doesn't know what they've got!
Good book for recording the pieces of glassware you collected but the pictures are not big enough to see the patterns. I'm new at collecting Depression glass and would of liked this book to be more explicit about the patterns. Ok size to tote around to stores.
